Jul 1, 2019 · I have owned the Yamaha CD- S2100 CD/SACD/DAC player for about four months now and have put about 150-200 hours on it. Previously I had been big on HT for the last 15 years but recently re-discovered stereo after I picked up a pair of Ohm H’s loudspeakers back in December of 2017.

Jan 9, 2019 · The Yamaha CD-S2100 sounds great and is built like a tank. Great choice for CD and SACD both. Then again, after auditioning it and the Denon DCD-2500NE some months ago, I ended up with the latter. The race was very close, but for me the Denon took the biscuit.

Moving up in the food chain might be a step up, but would that mean worse sound on marginal sounding cds? Mar 10, 2011 · FWIW the vintage yamaha gear used to sold in many "hi end shops" years ago. I still have a vintage Yamaha receiver from the 70's and a cassette deck from the late 80's and both are solid performers in all regards. I suspect the modern Yamaha gear to be a very reasonable place to look for top notch sound in a value oriented package.

Mar 19, 2019 · I have a CD-S1000 also. Love it. Also the matching A-S1000. If a good deal came my way with a CD-S2100, I would scoop it up. With that said, I eventually would have to get the matching A-S1100 or A-S2100. Bill

I have compared the Yamaha with a few other non-SACD players (Krell cad 300cd, Rotel rdv 1060, Arcam cd74), Yamaha sounds decent, but exaggerating, its sound is a bit more like coming from a bullhorn compared to Krell or a more moderate Rotel; perhaps, Yamaha sounds a bit more cleaner than Arcam but Arcam has a deeper base.
