Oct 16, 2020 · I'll just point this out in case you care. The XPR7550e is not Part 95 certified but it's quality far exceeds any GMRS-only radio I have ever come across. For that reason, for me using the XPR-7550e for GMRS is an acceptable risk. This is just my personal opinion and you have to decide for yourself whether or not this is acceptable for you.

Oct 27, 2021 · I second this, at least for the 7550. We got new-in-box XPR 7550e portables a couple years ago at work. I carried one until a month or so ago because the analog performance got so bad on it, at least on my UHF analog repeater's output frequency and PL it became useless. I thought there was something wonky with my repeater.

Aug 23, 2023 · I have a XPR 7550e with firmware R02.09.00.001 CP Version 14.00.13 and the CPS I have is 12.1 build 645. I would like to use this radio for ham and maybe GMRS. WHat would be the easiest and cheapest way to get the CPS and radio to talk to each other? Also, how would be a good dealer to go through? Thanks! Chris AB3AI

My observation with the 7550e is that either you get full crystal clear audio, or you get nothing, you don't have much of a warning before it quits, the only way to know you're nearing the end of range is by using the RSSI readout meter...
