2008年4月28日 · If you intend to replicate a typical Army training base barrack, you would do best with a metal bunk. I believe this is what is generally found at installations that are "permanent." The wooden bunks, as seen in my two photos, were constructed on site. Thus there was no need to haul in such furnishings.

The most common use for 700 Series plans were barracks, but builders could adjust the designs to fit many other purposes. The buildings were simple enough that they did not need skilled workers to assemble, but still possessed modern amenities.

The barracks, mess hall, orderly room, supply room, chapel, and sleeping quarters and headquarters used by Gen. George S. Patton prior to his deployment to North Africa are the only fully-preserved set of series 700 buildings in existence.

While oficers lived in elite housing, enlisted personnel lived in four large company barracks on the other side of the Parade Ground. Each bar-racks was originally designed for 80 soldiers. An early resident of one was 1st Sgt. Tom Mix, who served here in 1901-1902.
