2017年6月11日 · When wires are twisted together the connection is wire to wire and the wire nut holds the connection together, not necessarily carry current. With the "In-Sure" connection you're going from wire to a connection and the next connection is via a metal tab to another connection that carries the current, etc. Get the picture?

In NFPA 79-2007, Clause 13.5.9.2 states, "Electrical connections at motor terminal boxes shall be made with an identified method of connection. Twist-on wire connections shall not be used for this purpose." :rolleyes: What I think this means that wire nuts cannot be used in motor 'potheads'...

2019年12月17日 · With the Lever nuts, you can use one hand to both insert the wire and push the lever back down. It's best to raise the lever before going up the ladder or before you attempt to hold the light to connect the wires.

2006年3月23日 · "Wire nuts are allowed since they are not considered an arcing or sparking devices (such as a light switch, motor starter, or receptacle). Wire nuts is an accepted method for making connections, splices, etc. in the USA. I am not sure what part of the general NEC addresses this, but I am use it can be looked up if necessary.

2022年9月23日 · Both instances I've found the wire nuts pretty much toast.Both were residential applications, both on 60 amp 2 pole breakers with #6 NM cable on both. I routinely use Ideal blue wire nuts on all my oven and cooktop installs and have never knowingly had a problem. Anybody still using split bolts for these connections? Thoughts.

2010年12月22日 · Mostly, wires are joined in fixed terminal blocks and most electrical fixtures have provision for doing that. Light switches and ceiling roses usually have extra terminals for switch wires. The need for wire nuts has gone. Different practices, I know.

Take one potentially loose connection, add black tape that will burn and smoke like the devil, and you get a bad combo. Throw them suckers away and put on decent wire nuts.
