there really was no point to having a login on windows 9x and that box only appeared as a result of installing networking components. it was really there so that windows could log on to domains. you still didn't get your own personalised profile like on later operating systems, but it did give you access to any shared drives or resources your user account had access to.

2022年12月26日 · It's impressive how much windows is backwards compatible with. I also dual boot with macOS (via Hackintosh), and every year, I can expect to lose a bunch of apps. Meanwhile, I can load some educational game from the Windows 95 era. Heck, even my old visual basic 6 apps run fine in Win10 (untested in 11)
