Widecombe-in-the-Moor is a large parish (by area) located within the heart of the Dartmoor National Park in Devon in the United Kingdom. The village of Widecombe lies within the beautiful valley of the East Webburn river (stream!).

We are a level 1/2 mile walk from the picturesque village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor where the world famous Widecombe Fair dating back to 1850, still takes place every year. Local amenities in the village include a local post office, gift shops, children’s outside play area, riding stables and a National Trust Information Centre.

Some families have been associated with Widecombe for 400 years plus. With such beautiful surroundings, why go anywhere else? Also fronting the square is the Church House and the Sexton’s Cottage, now a gift shop and gallery.

Widecombe church is one of several mentioned in a Roll of the Visitation of R. de Morcestria and T. de Stapleton ‘super defectibus ecclesiarum maneriorum’ in the year 1313. At another Visitation in the 14th century, it was found that the porchwas badly secured and kept, and that an arch in the chancel needed repair.
