Widecombe church is one of several mentioned in a Roll of the Visitation of R. de Morcestria and T. de Stapleton ‘super defectibus ecclesiarum maneriorum’ in the year 1313. At another Visitation in the 14th century, it was found that the porchwas badly secured and kept, and that an arch in the chancel needed repair.
