I'm contemplating purchasing a Honda Eu7000is inverter generator (5.5k running watts/7k peak) vs a 12kw standby Kohler unit with automatic transfer switch. I have natural gas service at the house and my panel is already wired with a 30 amp inlet and an interlock kit.

2014年8月22日 · A inverter generator can idle down when the load is low thus saving fuel. This also makes them quieter. A inverter generator produces a more pure sign wave (less harmonic distortion) than most 2 pole small generators that you find in the old regular generators. This makes for better motor starting and less problems with some electronic devices.

That covered us for any power outages - except for the 20 seconds it took for the generator to kick on. That 20 seconds was enough to shut off our security camera system (mostly the NVR) and the (cable) internet's modem and our router.

2024年7月28日 · There are two kinds of generator - old style ones that run "full out" all the time, and inverter generators that run only as fast as needed to supply the demand. Obviously, a motor that runs full speed all the time burns more fuel than one which can idle when possible. So an inverter generator of good quality (like a Honda) would work.

2022年10月4日 · I had a 5KW generator that would power my 50 gallon 240 volt water heater and take 25-30 minutes or so to heat the full tank with the upper element turned off. Edit: I did find a Honda 4KW generator with 240 volt output for $2300.00 or so. A bit pricey for a small 3600 rpm air cooled generator.
