Jan 9, 2023 · WD Passport worked on the old laptop. WD Smartware will open but not allow for Backup function to proceed on the new laptop with Windows 11. Is Windows Firewall blocking the software from performing? I added WD Smartware.exe software to list of applications to allow through the Firewall. I purchased a Samsung SSD T7 external drive recently.

Mar 1, 2016 · The WD DLG shows the total capacity of the drive, not the remaining free one so this doesn't mean the data is gone. Could you please navigate to Disk Management and see how the drive is seen there. If you post a screenshot of it it would be even more helpful.

Apr 24, 2020 · I connect my WD Elements 1042 portable hard drive to my PC running Windows 10. The computer sees the hard drive because it appears in devices. However, the hard drive does not appear in the files menu and I cannot access it. This question was asked in 2016, but it has not really been answered. I have the same problem and my TB backup is locked!!!!

It makes the noise of something being plugged in and gives me a safely remove hardware option but won't give me autoplay or show up in my computer. I can't find it anywhere. It worked the first time and I moved some files over. Now it won't.
