2009年6月21日 · There isn't a lesser grade offered than the VVT-i. This is just an oil pressure actuated cam phaser. This perticular application only controls cam angle of the intake camshaft, not lift or duration as mentioned earlier. Toyota does have the technology known as VVTL-i.

2014年8月2日 · Both VTEC and VVT-i are examples of variable valve timing, they're just the different trademark names of their associated brands. Variable valve timing allows for better fuel efficiency by controlling amount of time the intake valve is open (retarded timing=less fuel used) depending on what the demand is on the throttle.

2009年10月10日 · VVT-i is sort of like the best of both cam worlds, you can have a high hp, high rpm cam and a high torque, at low rpm cam on the same camshaft. It basically is the same as Honda's VTEC. Interesting fact it was actually Ferrari who originally used variable valve technology, way back in the mid 1980's!

The dual VVT-i 4.0 V6 has uses a cartridge oil filter and it's mounted down low towards the bottom of the engine--it's not accessible from up above through the hood.

Altezza (forum member) told me that Dual VVT-i is the same thing as VVTL-i, but I respectfully disagree.

2003年1月12日 · to add to another voice to the vvt-i question.... the ecu uses many different sensors to determine how much the timing will be adjusted. oil flows into the solnoid (its not really one but anyways) and is devided to the front and back of the cam gear. i forget the specifics (i can look it up if you want) but when it puts all the oil in the front chamber it forces the cam to spin …

2000年7月28日 · As CelicaY2K said, only the Celica GT-S has a VVTL-i engine. All other Toyota engines (that have variable timing) have either VVT or VVT-i. All Lexus cars and trucks have VVT-i now. The 2ZZ-GE engine (supposedly) costs $16k US, according to the posts on newcelica.org. That's just a 1.8L 4-banger.
