You can make global rules to say youtube etc to see that content easier, but be prepared/warned also to that you can brake your basic uMatrix rules if you dont know what you are doing with making global rules. Safer just to make domain scope specific rules.

Jan 9, 2018 · It's confusing: your guide specifically points out at hosts files as used by uMatrix, there is a picture of uMatrix's dashboard. Something worth mentioning which I forgot, is that uMatrix enforces hosts resources differently than how a OS treats them: the subdomains of any domain in the hosts resources are also blocked with uMatrix.

Its dynamic rules sadly support fewer request types and static can get cumbersome to set up. uMatrix is all about being able to control cookies, script, xhr, frames and other undesireables with laser focus, in just a couple of clicks. It's perfect for a strict default-deny policy.

UMatrix is no longer actively developed and has the ability to pull in asset lists. NoScript, however, was updated just days ago. Jul 10, 2004 · curve with uMatrix than uBO. NoScript also at least for me was harder to configure (learning curve) than uBO. Of the 3 extensions uBO is the easiest to use IMO and I've stuck with it. Given a choice between using NoScript and uMatrix only I would for myself go with uMatrix although it's not being developed by Gorhill anymore.

Oct 25, 2014 · I'm asking this as for a user who's using both uMatrix and uB0 as a tandem but with a clear division of work (using uMatrix for Dynamic Filtering on stereoids and uB0 solely for Static Filtering) it would be much more straight-forward and logical, IMHO, to perform Dynamic URL Filtering in uMatrix rather than in uB0.

I use uMatrix only as my script and browser element controller, on a site by site basis, but with all the blacklisted host name files turned off. uBO has duplicates of the uMatrix Hosts files, so no need need in duplicating that effort. 2. I use uBlock Origin in basic mode with the selected 3rd party filters that I want enabled.

I removed the rules: * 1st-party * allow * 1st-party frame allow; That global allow rule for 1st party is causing new users many bad habits in their usage of uMatrix and wish it was gone from the default install! Also it is not safe, because bad sites exist and are made.
