U.S. Route 51 or U.S. Highway 51 (US 51) is a major south–north United States highway that extends 1,277 miles (2,055 km) from the western suburbs of New Orleans, Louisiana, to within 150 feet (46 m) of the Wisconsin – Michigan state line.

The purpose of the US 51 Bridge Project is to improve cross-river mobility between Wickliffe, Kentucky, and Cairo, Illinois, by addressing the safety and reliability issues caused by the narrow lane widths, lack of shoulders, and tight curve of the existing bridge and its approaches.

The US 51 Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is being conducted by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
