Token's father replied that his son's name was Tolkien (because he is a fan of Lord of the Rings). I understood this, but I didn't understand why the white family was ashamed that they thought the black name was Token.

They didn’t change the name for the sake of “haha funny racism”. Plus, you’re talking about a show that had a taco that shits ice cream, so the fact that you take it so seriously is insane.
