Jun 5, 2006 · Worst case would be you break the tip and have to remove the cylinder heads to retrieve the tip of the broken glow plug. Do a search on this Forum for broken Glow Plugs. Some guys have gotten lucky and retrieved tips of plugs thru the injector hole without removing the heads. You need to follow their procedures for getting the piston to TDC.

In an attempt to fix the blow out plug issue on the 5.4s they came up with this design, a plug that will break in pieces if carbon builds up on its tip.

Dec 6, 2014 · Tip 1: Completely take the downpipe off the truck. This is accomplished my removing the passenger side wheel well liner. I also removed the tire for complete access to everything behind the engine. If you have ever owned a 6.0 or 6.4, this will put a smile on your face as it comes out very easy in one piece WITHOUT cutting it.
