Apr 23, 2019 · A Warm Welcome is the 10th chapter of The Hobbit. Summary. Following the escape of the dwarves from the wood-elves, Bilbo listened to the talk of the raft-elves. He realized they were very fortunate to have escaped the way they had.

Once the raft of barrels is moored at Lake-town, the elves go off and Bilbo cuts the dwarves out of their barrels. Thorin thanks Bilbo for the trip, "though [he wishes Bilbo] could have arranged a more comfortable journey" (10.17).
