T helper 17 cell - Wikipedia
T helper 17 cells (Th17) are a subset of pro-inflammatory T helper cells defined by their production of interleukin 17 (IL-17). They are related to T regulatory cells and the signals that cause T h 17s to actually inhibit T reg differentiation. [1] . However, T h 17s are developmentally distinct from T h 1 and T h 2 lineages.

Th17 cells in human disease - PMC - PubMed Central (PMC)
Recent data in humans and mice suggest that Th17 cells play an important role in the pathogenesis of a diverse group of immune-mediated diseases, including psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease, and asthma. Initial reports also propose a role for Th17 cells in tumorigenesis and transplant rejection.
The role of T helper type 17 cells in inflammatory arthritis
While T cells have been implicated in the pathogenesis of inflammatory arthritis for more than three decades, the focus on the T helper type 17 (Th17) subset of CD4 T cells and their secreted cytokines, such as interleukin (IL)-17, is much more recent.
Th17 cells | British Society for Immunology
Subsequent research using animal models and human studies has demonstrated a key role for Th17 cells in the immune system’s defence against extracellular bacteria and fungi as well as the development of autoimmune diseases, mediated by the secretion of IL-17 by these cells.
The Biological Functions of T Helper 17 Cell Effector Cytokines in ...
Th17 cells and their effector cytokines mediate host defensive mechanisms to various infections, especially extracellular bacteria infections, and are involved in the pathogenesis of many autoimmune diseases. The receptors for IL-17 and IL-22 are broadly expressed on various epithelial tissues.
Defining the TH17 cell lineage - Nature Reviews Immunology
2021年9月27日 · In 2005, two independent papers described a third lineage of CD4 + T H cells that produce IL-17, referred to hereafter as T H 17 cells. Although T H 1 cells were historically linked to...
TH17 cell heterogeneity and its role in tissue inflammation
2023年1月3日 · In this Review, we discuss the heterogeneity of T H 17 cells and the role of this heterogeneity in diverse functions of T H 17 cells from homeostasis to tissue inflammation.

Th17 Cell Pathway in Human Immunity: Lessons from Genetics …
2015年12月15日 · The T helper 17 (Th17) cell pathway has been linked by genome-wide association studies to multiple autoimmune diseases. Identification of the genetic causes of primary immunodeficiency diseases revealed that Th17 cells are also critical in host immunity to mucocutaneous candida infections and Staphylococcus aureus.
