This was the first documented bank robbery for the infamous Butch and one that would be full of successes and learning opportunities for the meticulously planned heist.

Butch Cassidy's first major robbery was The Robbery of San Miguel Valley Bank in Telluride, Colorado on June 24, 1889. This robbery marked the beginning of his soon to come profession as an outlaw. At around noon Cassidy, Matt Warner, and Tom McCarty robbed the bank and rode off with about $20,000.
