The Teleri (Quenya: 'Those who come last'; singular Teler; adjectival Telerin) were the third Elf clan to leave Cuiviénen, the place of the Elves awakening, and start the journey to Aman. Those who completed the journey eventually became known as the Falmari.

Like the Sindar, they were Úmanyar, Teleri who began the Great Journey but did not complete it. 2024年7月14日 · Elves in The Lord of the Rings were categorized as Amanyar, Úmanyar, and Avamanyar based on their response to the Valar's summons. The Eldar, including Vanyar, Noldor, and Teleri, were created as groups of Elves with distinct characteristics and dominions.

Teleri / Lindar / Sea-elves: The Teleri were the largest group, last to arrive in Valinor, having left a part of their people behind. Teleri, "Last-comers, hindmost", was the name the other elves gave them for being last. They called themselves the Lindar, "Singers", as that was their special gift.

Of the Elves that made the Great Journey out of Cuiviénen, the Teleri were by far the largest of the three groups. Led by the brothers Elwë and Olwë, they moved more slowly than the Vanyar or the Noldor, and indeed the name Teleri means 'last-comers'.
