2010年10月27日 · The stock parts are pretty much bulletproof, and the frame in my opinion is a great base for any upgrades you might add in the future. The Steamroller has been around since the beginning of the recent fixed gear trend and has proven itself to be a durable frame and a good platform for just about anything you would want to do on a fixed gear.

2023年3月10日 · That's a pretty hard hit to the Surly family to lose the Steamroller. I've got many, many thousands of miles on mine. I have the Metalic Lilac built up with H Plus Son rims on Surly track hubs and 28mm Armadillo tires. White Industries 17t freewheel and a 49t ring on SRAM Omnium cranks.

Sweet! I cannot recommend the Steamroller enough. The tire clearance alone is a selling point. Your build looks great. Those origin8 hubs are just re-branded formula hubs. They are sealed bearing and very good quality for the price; nothing wrong with them at all. The Paul stuff is blingy and MUSA but no need to splurge.

2022年7月3日 · This is going to give it a more aggressive stance, not much but for me the Steamroller is really upright, so I can totally see why someone would want to rake it in some. Just a preference thing too, but straight forks look more modern to me, curved forks look great on classic thin-tubed lugged frames.

I've had this frame set forever, and it’s currently sporting a 'black magic metal flake powdercoat' finish with a brazed-on disc mount for the rear. Growing up riding BMX bikes, I built this bike with that in mind—minus the handlebars. It’s single-speed with a back brake.

2023年2月26日 · Fwiw, I’m 5’7” on a 53cm surly steamroller. 70mm spacers underneath the 44cm salsa cowchipper bars with a 90mmx15 degree rise stem. My rides are typically longish endurance type so I like the more lax positioning.
