The current strategy just makes a fool of anyone (like me) that was incredibly excited to have a Surface device after years of hearing how great Apple's hardware was.

I was wondering if my Surface Pro 5th Gen is compatible with Windows 11. I have installed the device health tool, and it states I am not compatible with it. My TPM appears to be 2.0 and my DirectX version appears to be 12. I have more than enough space on my SSD and enough RAM.

2023年5月9日 · There is no problem running Windows 11 on devices having an incompatible CPU (such as your Surface Pro 5) as long as they meet the baseline security requirements for having Secure Boot and a TPM. All Surface devices from the Pro 3 on do so, I believe. I'm running Windows 11 right now on my 2015 Surface Book (6th gen Core i7).

2022年2月18日 · I upgraded my studio 2 to windows 11 and it is fine. The pen seems a bit better off (slim pen 2) but it otherwise feels the same. The biggest issues will be how you feel about the start screen (I miss it) and the position of the task bar which I prefer at the top but is locked to the bottom. Don't get me wrong, windows 11 is not made of fail.

Yeah. Windows 11 so far is much closer to the original Surface Pro dream imo (closer than W10) and it sucks that I'll have to buy a new device to get there - especially because the reason I haven't upgraded from the SP5 yet is because the SP 6 & 7 don't feel like they offer much value in the overall experience from the SP5 - I would be doing it just to run the OS.

2021年10月4日 · I installed 11 on a pro 5 the other day, performance wise there has been really no issues. I have not noticed any issues like overheating or the CPU throttling and generally speaking the usage listed in the task manager is the same if not better (in some very limited cases) as my desktop PC which is supported hardware.
