Steung Saen River (ស្ទឹងសែន), sometimes spelt Steung Sen, is a river in Cambodia. It is a major tributary of the Tonlé Sap River. [2] The Stung Sen River Basin is the largest among the 11 main tributaries around Tonlé Sap with a catchment surface of 16,344 km 2 (1,634,400 ha). [1]

Along the Stung Sen River, there are gallery forests, low-stature shrub land, inundated and submerged trees, and extensive mats of herbaceous and aquatic vegetation which provide habitat for a variety of species.

Stueng Saen Municipality (Khmer: ក្រុងស្ទឹងសែន) is a municipality, also a district within Kampong Thom province, in central Cambodia. According to the 1998 census of Cambodia, it had a population of 66,014. [2] Stueng Saen (ស្ទឹងសែន) means "river of soldiers" in Khmer.

Stung Sen is a protected multiple use management area and wildlife sanctuary in the Kampong Thom Province of Cambodia. It is located near the south-eastern tip of the Tonlé Sap, one of three wildlife sanctuaries around the lake, including Boeng Tonlé Chhmar and Prek Toal. [3]

Signed in 1971, Ramsar convention is an international treaty aiming at conservation of wetlands around the world.
