2023年1月17日 · Saint Vincent De Paul, (April 24, 1581- September 27, 1660) was a French priest who dedicated his life to helping the poor, and is considered one of the most important figures in the history of charity. He was canonized by Pope Clement X in 1737 and declared the patron saint of all charitable works.

Like his fellow saint, Francis de Sales, who was his friend and contemporary, Vincent de Paul performed an invaluable service to the Catholic Church in a period of confusion and laxness. But unlike the aristocratic bishop of Geneva, Vincent was born in poverty, of peasant stock.
