Sending out a info free email while everyone is drunk at .Conf and then the only fix is upgrade to a fucking .0 release. Holy fucking hell that is a bad idea. Does Splunk’s leadership understand how this shows massive disregard for its users? It cool to see everyone and hang out.

2021年6月24日 · In general, inputs.conf belongs on your forwarder and props.conf belongs on your indexer (this is NOT 100% but is a general rule of thumb. There are a lot of exceptions). The other thing you can do is take a look at btool- this is a CLI tool that helps you determine where Splunk is pulling it's key value pairs for given types of object from.

2022年8月11日 · That windows add on that you installed on the UF is just a bundle of .conf files teaching the UF how to read data (most importantly, inputs.conf). These are the docs pages for that particular add-on. You're working at a severe disadvantage here without the baseline Splunk know-how to configure an app, though, so it may not read very cleanly.

2022年9月19日 · I set up clean instances of Splunk 8.2.8 on 3 machines: one UF and two Enterprise instances. I first established a 'normal' data flow: UF > IDX, with the SH able to search. This meant I had my default output group in outputs.conf on my UF pointing to my indexer, and my SH set up to disribute search requests to the indexer. All normal.

One of my two test boxes has a combined Windows Registry and Event log of 600MB for yesterday. Definitely in the overkill range as the system in question is low usage. Did a stats on keys and the first two show up with two magnitues higher numbers:
