2024年7月16日 · Good solder, silver solder may not be needed, avoid the lead free stuff. Avoid acid anything! 63/37 is for electronics, flows well, and has a narrow plastic range, use this to practice. There is a blend with 2% silver used for rf amplifiers, works well too. A Weller 250 watt iron works well for many items, keep the nuts tight.
Solder near glass - NAWCC Forums
2022年11月21日 · Let the iron come up to full temp before starting, this can take about 10 minutes. Clean, flux, and lightly tin the contact surfaces and don't add any more solder while applying heat and pressure against the hinge with your soldering iron. You will also need a 'poker' to keep the downward pressure on the hinge, when you lift the soldering iron.
Good substitute for soft solder - NAWCC Forums
2024年4月6日 · Whether using an iron or a mini torch I have learned that preparation of the two surfaces is the key. The amount of solder and how to apply it is the second most important thing. Too much solder is often used. I know you said you know how to solder but I have tried to find an alternative like epoxy and other adhesives and they all fail.
Removing glass from bezel | NAWCC Forums
2024年10月8日 · Solder does not require a lot of heat. A large iron like a Weller gun instead of a pencil style will get it hot fast. You need to het the bass hot enough to melt the solder, quick so the whole area does not get stressed. Place whole thing in warm spot or toaster oven to get it WARM, ot hot, to reduce any stress. Was it originallysoldered?
Sweat Soldering? - NAWCC Forums
2012年10月28日 · One is a silver solder-flux paste, called "Solder it", which I don't much care for. I find it to be messy. Perhaps I'm just not using it correctly. The other solder I've used is Tix. When I'm trying to "sweat solder" a small joint, I'll usually hammer a stick of Tix, and cut the flattened area into small pieces.
Light Sensor on battery powered clocks | NAWCC Forums
2022年5月9日 · Actually it did not have to be repaired. It just had have both ends connected to each other rather than to the sensor. If it does not, it confuses the circuit. And it made total sense. I did as he suggested (only I twisted the ends together instead of soldering them as I dont have a solder iron) and it worked perfectly!
How to attach new dial feet?? - NAWCC Forums
2023年5月8日 · You need a low temperature solder. Solder is usually made in the eutectic proportions, or in the nearly eutectic form of 60% tin, 40% lead. But some solder is available in the opposite ratio -- 60% lead, and 40% tin. This is the form we need (unless you can obtain your lead and tin as separate items).
Soldering Dial Feet and Solder Box - NAWCC Forums
2009年7月16日 · As I began to repaint, I broke off the dial feet. I tried to resolder feet with a small diameter steel rod (Piano Wire that fits the hole on the movement) with a soldering iron and regular rosin core solder. Even though I was able to attach the foot, the solder blob made the dial too high. When I filed the blob down, the foot came off.

2024年4月27日 · What solder did you use? I recommend you try one of the SnPbCu alloys with 1.5% ~ 2% Cu because otherwise the small copper wire dissolves into the solder while it's liquid. If you experiment with wire this size you will see that it quickly disappears completely into regular SnPb solder, especially at higher temperatures.
Cast Iron Bell Repair? - NAWCC Forums
2005年5月9日 · They just had a discussion on the clockmaker's list on yahoo. Different successful methods were mentioned, including soft solder. Other methods, were drilling a small hole at the end of the crack and running a jeweler's saw through the crack, opening it up. Some claimed that crazy glue was the best fix.
