Shildon is a town and civil parish in County Durham, in England. The population taken at the 2011 Census was 9,976. [4] The town has the Locomotion Museum, due to it having the first station, built in 1825, and locomotive works on the Stockton and Darlington Railway.

2018年10月12日 · Shildon was the very first place in the world to witness a steam locomotive hauling a train of passengers on a public railway—a true spectacle. To the locomotive engine 60 waggons were attached, containing one thousand persons, who were highly delighted, as were the thousands of spectators.

2020年1月23日 · On 27 September 1825 a small steam locomotive coupled up to a train at Shildon in County Durham. There were officially around 300 ticket holders but many more—possibly twice as much again—had jumped on board. As the train headed eastwards to the port of Stockton, huge crowds gathered to watch its progress.
