Muslims, including Shia, Sunni, Ibadi and other branches, agree on two holiest sites in Islam being the Masjid al-Haram (including the Kaaba) in Mecca; the Masjid an-Nabawi in Medina.

Shia Islam[a] is the second-largest branch of Islam. It holds that Muhammad designated Ali ibn Abi Talib (r. 656–661) as both his political successor (caliph) and as the spiritual leader of the Muslim community (imam).

So when comparing Shia and Sunni mosques, there is hardly any difference except for the difference in their beliefs and customs. Though Shia and Sunni are different Muslim sects, the Shias are allowed to perform prayers at Sunni mosques and vice versa.

The Islamic Center of America is a Shia mosque in Dearborn, Michigan. It is the oldest Shia mosque in the United States and the largest in North America [ 11 ] [ 12 ] [ 13 ] (founded in 1963). [ 1 ] The institution known as "heart of Shiism" in the United States.

It is the resting place of Imam Reza, the eighth Shia Imam. The shrine has a large golden dome, tall minarets, and a huge courtyard. Many people visit this holy place every year to pray.
