2021年12月1日 · In the run-up to Christmas, some people in Norway still observe the day of Santa Lucia, or Saint Lucy. Here’s the story of this Christian tradition. My heart is swelling with pride and emotion.

I Norge feires luciadagen særlig i barnehager og på skoler. Barna går i lysprosesjon og synger luciasangen, «Sankta Lucia». Prosesjonen ledes av ett av barna, som er kledd ut som Lucia i hvit kjole og med lyskrans på hodet.

Today, on St. Lucia Day in Norway, the celebration emphasizes light over winter's darkness, with school children dressed in white, holding candles, and singing traditional songs to honor Santa Lucia. The most famous song is "Sankta Lucia" (the same song popular in Italy but with Norwegian lyrics).

I Norge er Luciafeiring etter svensk forbilde spesielt utbredt i barnehagene, men også mange skoler feirer Lucia. I Sverige feires Lucia også i større grad av voksne og i private hjem, men det er mindre utbredt i Norge.
