Mar 28, 2017 · ALL M855 cartridges use the SS109 projectile. M855 is a US military nomenclature for the loaded round using the SS109 projectile. Its called M855 outside of the factory in civilian hands because its specifically exempt from the Armour Piercing rule (as is the 3.06 M2AP). If not, and call it the "ss109 cartridge" you would not be allowed to own ...

Oct 13, 2024 · You’re getting 1000 rounds with the swissp, the adi cans are 900 rounds. A friend of mine gave me some of the adi ss109. I haven’t shot it yet but the quality of the brass and primer staking is top notch. From the few rounds I have it rivals black hills ammo as looks go.
SS109 vs M855..What's the Difference?? - AR15.COM
Oct 17, 2005 · The SS109 is the name Europe gave the M855. SS109 "usually" meets the NATO specs(you have to look for that crosshair circle). The M855 is held to higher tolerances than the SS109. The US M855 is usually more accurate because the tolerances are more strict than the SS109 counter part. Example the steel core being centered better.

Jan 5, 2013 · Was reading alot about the CFE223, and was amazed at the velocities achieved in 5.56/.223 loadings. Different manufacturers call their SS109 loads different things and some countries have their own specs for the rounds loaded with the SS109 projectile and others just use NATO specs For Israel, IMI always used the US M855 spec but maxed out, and called it M855.
SS109 penetration depth - AR15.COM
Nov 30, 2004 · SS109 has really marginal penetration on objects harder than the bullet itself. I did some 40-50 yard tests on hardened steel plates and M193 by far out penetrated the SS109. The problem with SS109/M855 ammo at closer ranges is that the heavier bullet has a lower velocity. And velocity is the whole reason behind the success of a small caliber ...
Firing SS109 in a 1 in 12 twist question - AR15.COM
Jun 24, 2010 · Long bullets need faster twists for adequate stabilization, and frankly 1:12 is just about as slow as you want for 55gr FMJs (it works OK with .22LR rounds) 62gr bullets, especially the longer SS109 type, need at least 1:10, preferably faster, to get the bullets properly stabilized.

Ballistic Coefficient (BC) for M855 62 grain 5.56 (getting custom ...
Apr 9, 2013 · For those who may be interested Leupold uses the G1 profile for their turret systems and from all the research I've done the M855 (SS109) 5.56 cartridge has a G1 BC of 0.304. It seems the equivalent G7 profile (which Leupold does not use but is apparently slightly more accurate) is 0.177.
