2019年1月14日 · All metal valve stems on front havent ever caused me issues but the rubber on rear replaced twice in 6 years. Tires rated for 80psi cold. They are Cooper LT 245/75R16. Question? 2006年1月9日 · My 7.3 has been using some oil for along time now and the amount has risen sharply in the last couple years. This has been with very little use of the pickup. Has classic valve stem seal leak symptoms....smoke after idling for a long time, or smoking after going down hill for a few miles. Smells like oil.

2023年11月19日 · Take a cylinder and put a piston in it starting with the piston at one end of the cylinder and then move the piston to the other end of the cylinder and do it so that it takes at least 5 minutes for the travel to happen, also the cylinder is open to atmospheric pressure at both ends just like a NA diesel is when the intake valve is open.

2017年5月25日 · The way I like to do it is to pressurize the cylinders with compressed air and then pull the springs. If you get an el-cheapo compression tester, or if you already have one just remove the valve core from the adapter, (same setup as a tire valve) then remove the gauge off the hose and thread an air tool fitting on.

2007年5月27日 · With my kit I got 16 small plastic pieces, which go into the underside of the valve spring retainers. Eight larger plastic pieces, which slide onto the exhaust valve stems, and then 8 positive seals for the intake valves. I laid my retainers on a bench, with the underside pointing upward, and used a flat piece of metal to press them in by hand.

2015年11月30日 · Just a side thought, but would it be better to install 6.9 valve stems on a 7.3 since they are supposed to do a better job keeping the guides & valve stems lubed? I heard that the 7.3 idi's are more prone to guide failure due to the valve stem seals not letting enough oil past them. Just wondering what others have heard or done.
