2024年9月11日 · Since Route 66 no longer exists as a US Highway (it was decommissioned in 1985), the classic black and white vertical US highway shields cannot be used to mark it. This issue has been solved in part by using brown signs with white lettering to indicate the alignment of "HISTORICAL ROUTE 66".

You can then follow R-66 into Barstow(stop at Bagdad Cafe and the R-66 museum downtown Barstow) or cut across Amboy Road to Joshua Tree National Park, Pioneertown and Palm Springs.

In the pre-Interstate days, these strips were the main route through town. Local motels and restaurants competed for travelers' patronage by erecting ever more elaborate and colorful signs. The following pages present the best of the surviving signs, as well as a few which have disappeared since I was able to photograph them.

You'll see signs there when you travel on the highway (US 395, i think) from Hoover Dam to the Grand Canyon area. it's not very hard to find once you drive out there.

2024年3月7日 · As Route 66 has moved from major thoroughfare to historic treasure, numerous signs have been erected in the old road’s honor. You will find these signs in paint and in neon. On signposts and on the sides of buildings.
