The Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area aims to restore the native wetland and riparian habitats of the historic Salt River, which once flowed year-round through Phoenix.

The Rio Salado and Beach Park area includes both sides of Tempe Town Lake between Priest Drive and Rural Road. The master plan focuses on programming, infrastructure, access, use of space and land/water activities to provide a blueprint for future of the area.

The Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area stretches along five miles of the Salt River just south of downtown Phoenix. Once a dump site, the area is now a lush riparian corridor with five miles of paved and dirt trails dotted with unique design and user features.
