Radial glial cell - Wikipedia
Radial glial cells, or radial glial progenitor cells (RGPs), are bipolar-shaped progenitor cells that are responsible for producing all of the neurons in the cerebral cortex. RGPs also produce certain lineages of glia, including astrocytes and oligodendrocytes.

With the onset of neurogenesis, neuroepithelial cells transform into radial glial cells. Both neuroepithelial and radial glial cells are characterized by apical–basal polarity and...
Radial glia and radial glia-like cells: Their role in neurogenesis …
Radial glial cells originate from the early neural tube neuroepithelial cells (NECs) by a transition that involves acquiring astroglia characteristics. NECs are known for their apico-basal polarity and interkinetic nuclear migration associated with their cell cycle progression.
Radial Glial Cells: Neuron - Cell Press
2005年5月5日 · Radial glial cells have been identified as a major source of neurons during development. Here, we review the evidence for the distinct “glial” nature of radial glial cells and contrast these cells with their progenitors, the neuroepithelial cells.
Radial Glial Cell - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics
Radial glial cells (RGCs) are a morphologically, biochemically, and functionally distinct nonneuronal cell class that, during development, radially spans the entire width of the developing cerebral wall from the ventricular cavity to the pial surface. They play several pivotal roles in the production and placement of neurons during vertebrate ...
Radial glial cells: Key organisers in CNS development
2014年1月1日 · Today, radial glial cells are recognised as morphologically, biochemically and functionally distinct from other neural cell types. They display an apical–basal polarity possessing a periventricular cell body and an elongated process extending from a ventricular attachment to an end-foot anchored to the opposing pial surface (Fig. 1 A and B ...

Radial glial cells (RGCs) comprise a pseudostratified epithelial layer lining the ventricular wall during cerebral cortex development. RGCs performs asymmetric neurogenic cell division to produce postmitotic neurons or neuronally committed intermediate progenitor cells.
