2012年4月23日 · Re: Tumbler Quilt Borders thanks again - i've actually seen a tumbler done w/adding the little triangle to give it a straight edge, but i can't say i really like the look of that. looked a little "make-shift" - if that's the only option, then i'd …
Uneven Border - The Quilting Forum - Missouri Star's Quilt …
2018年7月14日 · Has anyone ever seen a quilt that has side borders that are a different dimension than top & bottom borders? I want to lengthen my quilt to fit a queen size bed. If I added new or deeper borders to top & bottom it would fit my bed. Presently this quilt is wider than it is long and the quilt pattern is directional (vertical).
Joining border strips - The Quilting Forum - Missouri Star's Quilt ...
2016年10月3日 · I try to alternate when my border strips join. So, on the side borders, one join would be at the top, and on the other side, I would put the join at the bottom. For the top and bottom borders, I would make one to the left and the other to the right. I'd do the opposite with the second borders.
Are there border width rules? - The Quilting Forum - Missouri …
2020年2月12日 · I stopped putting borders on quilts. If it needs to be bigger I just add more blocks but if you run out of fabric to make more blocks I see why that could be a problem. You will laugh at me when I tell you why I stopped making borders. I made a quilt for my sister about 3 or 4 years ago. I just slaved over it, I wanted it all to be so perfect.
Square up quilt top before or after borders????? - Jenny Doan
2012年7月30日 · Re: Square up quilt top before or after borders????? My tried and true method of doing borders is to lay the quilt flat on the floor. Take one side border and pin it at the MIDDLE of the quilt top, smoothing it as you lay it flat all the way down to the bottom edge of the quilt top.
Wavy Borders?? - The Quilting Forum - Missouri Star's Quilt …
2020年9月1日 · After the lengthwise borders are on, fold your quilt in half the short way and measure through the middle of the quilt. This measurement will also include the two borders you just added to the sides. Again, cut your top and bottom borders the measurement of the quilt through the center and apply them as before.
How to square up quilt top before adding borders?? - Jenny Doan
2014年8月2日 · When it comes to measuring for the borders, measure the quilt in three places, not on the edge, & take the average to determine border length. Measure the fabric for the border & then pin the border to the edge before sewing, easing in any fullness on the border or quilt top -- don't just add a strip of border fabric & sew it to the border ...
Borders - where do you place the seams? - The Quilting Forum
2015年11月16日 · Re: Borders - where do you place the seams? I piece them so they don't come too close to the corners. Mitering a join is no fun. I try to place the joins away from the midpoint on each side of the quilt, somewhere between the center and the end of the strip. I never just sew a bunch of strips together and let them land where they may.
How accurate do I need to be before adding borders?
2016年6月14日 · I find the center of my border strip and the center of the quilt and match those and pin. Then I pin the ends to match and then make sure the border is distributed evenly between those and pin. I have good luck with borders doing it that way. Also, I just measure the center of the quilt for the measurement as Bonnie Hunter recommends.
