Quark Parton Model: Explaining Inelastic Scattering - Physics Forums
2018年7月26日 · Hi, I've been studying the quark parton model recently and all seems fine at first. However, there's just one thing bugging me right now. So in the quark parton model it is assumed that inelastic lepton-hadron scattering can be explained by …
What is the current due to the circulation of the u quark? - Physics …
2008年3月20日 · If the quarks are in motion, they can produce a nonzero magnetic moment. As a very simple model, suppose the u quark moves in a counterclockwise circular path and the d quarks move in a clockwise, circular path, all of radius r and all with the same speed v. Determine the current due to the circulation of the u quark. Homework Equations
SU(3) quark model and singlet states - Physics Forums
2016年4月10日 · 'In the SU(3) quark model there are two singlet vector states $$|\omega_8 \rangle = \frac{1}{\sqrt{6}} \left(|u \bar u \rangle + |d \bar d \rangle - 2 |s... Eta prime meson as SU(3) singlet - Physics Forums
2014年1月4日 · Looking at the quark contents, the electric charges of these mesons should be ##+1, 0, -1##. Looking at the pseudoscalar meson spectrum, we indeed find a triplet of three very light mesons with almost identical masses and charges ##+1, 0, -1##. They are the pions, ##\pi^+, \pi^0, \pi^-##. So we have figured out the quark content of the pions.
Quark Structure of Baryons: Sigma & Lambda - Physics Forums
2010年5月15日 · Quark flavor (by this I mean up vs. down vs. strange etc.) works much the same way. The difference is, instead of just two "basic" states, spin up and spin down, you have three: up, down, and strange. (Actually there are six, for the 6 flavors of quarks, but if you pretend there are only three for simplicity the procedure still works.)
Parton? quarks? what is the difference? - Physics Forums
2008年4月20日 · It was not clear to me if by "quark theory", the OP meant the original quark model or the present quark theory, namely QCD. I was talking about the present accepted "quark theory", QCD. If we are talking about the original quark model as it was considered early on, I agree that the the model was a way to incoprorate SU(3) symmetry to organize ...
Quark Model Families and Masses - Physics Forums
2019年11月6日 · Consider the pseudoscalar and vector meson family, as well as the baryon J = 1/2 family and baryon J = 3/2 family. Within each multiplet, for each particle state write down its complete set of quantum numbers, its mass, and its quark state content. Furthermore, for each multiplet draw the (Y...
What is the quark magnetic moment? - Physics Forums
2012年1月3日 · The magnetic moments agree with the naive quark model. See my message for details. The so-called Spin Crisis is the surprising fact that if I have a beam of protons than is 100% polarized along one direction, the summed spins of the quarks actually has a quite low polarization along that axis.
Quenched & Unquenched Quark Model - Physics Forums
2015年7月21日 · Just started the study Exotic Hadrons (like mixing of Charmonium states with tetraquarks etc.) and got confused with quenched & unquenched quark model. What are the major differences between these two models? What key factors I should keep in mind doing calculations with these models invidiously? I will highly acknowledge literature ...
Calculating the electric potential engery of the system - Physics …
2005年9月30日 · In the quark model of fundamental particles, a proton is composed of three quarks: two "up" quarks, each having charge +2e/3, and one "down" quark, having charge -e/3. Suppose that the three quarks are equidistant from one another. Take the distance to …
