This route winds through impressive Provo Canyon past Bridal Veil Falls, Deer Creek Reservoir and on to scenic Heber Valley. Embarking from Provo on US-189, this byway parallels the Provo River, one of Utah's Blue Ribbon fly fishing waters.

This 20-mile drive winds through rugged alpine canyons of the Wasatch Range offering stupendous views of Mount Timpanogos and other glacier-carved peaks. The route follows Utah Hwy. 92 up American Fork Canyon and then continues through Uinta National Forest into Provo Canyon on U.S. 189.

The Provo/Orem area provides easy access to the national parks and canyon country of southern Utah and also the mountains and ski resorts in the northern part of the state. The Provo River tumbles over a series of scenic waterfalls as it flows along Hwy 150 in the Uinta Mountains. A signed parking area and overlook are provided along the highway. A short trail leads from the overlook down to the river. Spur trails run up and down the river to the waterfalls.

From the trailhead, just follow the obvious hiker trail into the canyon. The trail stays in the bottom of the canyon, along the stream, for most of the way, but it climbs up onto the bench as you approach the waterfall.

This river offers a great rafting adventure close to Salt Lake, Park City and Provo. You float down beautiful Provo Canyon near Sundance Resort. Full-day trips on the Provo River are not available; most trips last from an hour and a half to two hours, depending on water levels.

Stewart Falls is one of the most scenic and photogenic waterfalls in northern Utah. It falls in two tiers and is over 200 feet tall. It is a moderate hike through a beautiful forest on the east side of Mt Timpanogos.

Provo is worth a visit for anyone interested in the state of Utah. While there, visitors should see the historic sites that the city has to offer, including Brigham Young University, the Provo City Center Temple and the Utah County Building.
