2014年9月3日 · So, you would cut the pipe 10.75" long, and have ~10 threads (about 3/4") on each end. The 10 threads accounts for the 6-8 threads covered by the elbow and 3 threads left exposed. In theory, there is about 1/8" of slop in either way in the length depending if you did 6 turns on each side or 8 (instead of 7).

2018年11月14日 · So, if you need a short (close) nipple, the threading operation needs to be started from both ends so that each end is tapered and it will tighten up. If you were to just run the die all the way through the pipe's length, it would cut the threads evenly, and it would never tighten up and likely leak, but you'd be able to screw things on.

2021年9月20日 · Tried threading PVC today with electric threader and the threads look crappy. The ones where I reversed many times look almost stripped. The best one so far is from electric threading forward in one pass, then unscrewing the pipe from the die backwards by hand, little by little back and forth.

Now, I was able to remove all of the galvanized pipe and found a 1-1/2" PVC threaded male coupling that will thread into the cast iron hub.
