Picotron is a Fantasy Workstation: a self-contained creative environment built for imaginary hardware. Create cute Lua apps that can be run inside Picotron as windowed userland processes, shared as cartridge files, or exported to stand-alone HTML apps.

Although Picotron is conceptually similar to PICO-8-- an imaginary machine that you can make things for with built-in tools -- it aims to be a more practical and flexible development environment. The two main differences are in specifications (larger display and cartridge capacity), and the way that built-in tools are implemented.

Picotron uses a slightly extended version of Lua 5.4, and most of the standard Lua libraries are available. For more details, or to find out about Lua, see www.lua.org. The following is a primer for getting started with Lua syntax.
