Military ' Lieutenant Colonel Robert Blair Mayne better known as Paddy Mayne was a British Army officer who served with The Royal Ulster Rifles and was a founding member of The Special Air Service 'The SAS'.

Lieutenant Colonel Robert Blair Mayne’s grave is in the family plot at Movilla Cemetery, Newtownards, Co. Down. In 1997, a statue at Conway Square outside Newtownards Town Hall was dedicated in the presence of an S.A.S. guard of honour.

Death and burial ground of Mayne, Robert Blair, “Paddy”. Recruited in 1945 by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey, he was appointed Deputy Expedition Leader, under Surgeon Captain Edward Bingham, to the Falkland Islands, Deception Island and Port Lockroy.

2020年11月14日 · Mayne was devastated by his death and went to look, unsuccessfully but at great risk, for his friend’s grave. Later he wrote a tender letter to McGonigal’s mother, expressing his condolences for her loss.
