2021年11月17日 · Otherwise, gaming on PS3 Linux is a no-go, or very rudimentary (though it does run fakenes Nintendo emulator quite well). What the PS3 is great for in Linux is as an educational tool for learning about the Cell/B.E. CPU (and high performance computing concepts, by extension) which is luckily my major area of interest.

2023年12月26日 · The PS3's graphics card isn't usable in Linux, so 2D and 3D applications that need hardware acceleration (anything using DirectX, OpenGL, Vulkan, anything using 3dfx/Glide or Voodoo support, etc) won't run, because the custom hardware can't be used yet.

But man, tinkering with that is so much fun :D. Any linux on PS3 slim right now is not easy if you want the recent software to be able to run. But Gentoo actually works really well comparing other distros. I was able to boot it using some old pre-compiled kernel from older distribution made for PS3 many years ago. It's linux 3.12 :D. And it works.
