Orongo (Rapa Nui: Oroŋo) is a stone village and ceremonial center at the southwestern tip of Rapa Nui (Easter Island). It consists of a collection of low, sod-covered, windowless, round-walled buildings with even lower doors positioned on the high south-westerly tip of the large volcanic caldera called Rano Kau .

Orongo is a much different site than any other place on Easter Island. There are no famous moai statues and no huge ceremonial platforms.

Orongo was originally the sacred site of the birdman cult. There are many trails to follow. The volcanic crater and sea views including that of 'birdman island' are spectacular.

Orongo is perched on a narrow ridge, with the crater of the Rano Kau volcano on one side and cliffs that fall 300 meters to the sea on the other. The site contains dozens of petroglyphs and stone houses dating from the Huri-Moai period (ca. 1680–1867) of Rapa Nui’s history.
