With Oriental though it doesn't have that same deliberate offense. Oriental rugs are the prefered description of the rugs and no one complains about it. Likewise there is a watch company called Orient (japanese).

Oriental is a western term often used to describe furniture, lamps, people and knick knacks. It's degrading to use the same term for a cat bed as you would use for a person.
