Odawara Castle (小田原城, Odawarajō) was originally built in the mid 15th century and soon fell into the hands of the Hojo Clan, one of the most powerful clans during the Warring States Era who used it as a base to control the region around modern day Tokyo.

Odawara Castle (小田原城, Odawara-jō) is a reconstructed Japanese castle in the city of Odawara in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. The current donjon (keep) was constructed out of reinforced concrete in 1960 on a stone foundation of the former donjon, torn down from 1870–1872 during the Meiji Period.

Odawara Castle is a symbol of Odwara City. It was as an impregnable castle owned by the Hojo clan, the samurai family who governed Kanto region for about a century from the end of 15th century. Since then, the castle became a reserve for Hakone and Tokaido route and functioned as a cornerstone of defense in the region.

Odawara Castle was home base of the Hojo clan, the rulers of Odawara for over 100 years. The castle keep was rebuilt in 1960 based on diagrams and models from the Edo period. Odawara Castle is just a 10-minute walk from Odawara Station, which is easily accessible from Tokyo.
