[Psychology] Can adults lose/never obtain object permanence?
2016年4月22日 · No, object permanence is a cognitive concept the brain understands and isn't known to be governed by a particular piece of the brain. So losing object permanence would involve massive brain damage or a developmental disorder which would have many other more severe consequences than object permanence.

There is a line of very bad research that is not backed by evidence which uses these terms incorrectly. It is not recognised as plausible by any experts in psychology.

I'm a doctoral psych student and I can all but guarantee that an otherwise neurotypical adult without object permanence would be profoundly unique and highly researched and well-known in medical/neuro/psych circles. I simply cannot imagine a situation in which someone without object permanence could function independently in society.
