2024年1月24日 · Changing the shift cable on my '89 Cobra. I had a hard time getting the old one out, it binds, I believe right there where it leaves the transom shield. I pulled the old one out with a string attached so I could get the new one in, but the new one binds. Very slowly the corrugated tube inside the tube came out, then it broke.

I took a closer look at the shift cable sleeve inside the boat behind the engine and confirmed the sleeve is pinched to about half the normal inside diameter, pinched between the lower part of the exhaust pipe and the engine flywheel housing.

In any event, I can offer that I flipped the lower shift cable on my 90' 4.3 OMC this spring.

2013年2月15日 · Note - mesurement is from drive mating surface, not top of shift cover. The bellcrank is at 90 degrees to the gimbal face - page 11-12. You want the 6 1/2" measurement at the shift lever with lever straight up and down (remove upper cable) - page 11-11. Check and set upper cable stroke adjustment on shift lever - page 11-14.
