Drag the appropriate items to their respective bins. to determine the shape of the molecule or ion to determine the formulas of ionic compounds Lewis theory allows us to account for the paramagnetism of some species (e.g. oxygen) to determine how the bonds in the molecules and ions form to predict what molecules or ions will be stable, which ...
Answered: The compound below (Cl2O2) plays a role in ozone
Draw a Lewis structure for Cl2O2 based on the arrangement of atoms shown above. The compound below (Cl2O2) plays a role in ozone depletion in the stratosphere, where it serves as a reservoir of Cl atoms that catalyze the destruction of O3.
Can ozone have a triangular structure? - Chemistry Stack Exchange
2016年11月12日 · The structure of ozone is traditionally depicted using two resonance forms: However, what I am wondering is instead of using such an idea to explain the structure why can't we show the structure of ozone like this? Some people have told me that such a structure is not possible but they fail to mention the reason.
HClO3 Lewis Structure - CHEMISTRY COMMUNITY - University of …
2020年12月11日 · H is bonded to O in HClO3 because that's the most stable structure. With this structure, each atom has a formal charge of 0. If H was bonded to the Cl, the O without the double bond would have a formal charge of 0 and the Cl would have a formal charge of +1. Also, I believe since HClO3 is an acid, that also explains why the H is bonded to the O.
Ozone resonance structure: differing opinions
All of these structures contribute to the "real" structure of ozone - however, some resonance structures contribute more and some resonance structures contribute less. Here is a link to a nice set of rules (see page 2, the "Resonance Contributor Preference Rule" section) that describes how to weight the contribution of various resonance structures.

Which of the following factors contribute to the tetrahedral shape of the above molecule? Group of answer choices A. the shape of the two p orbitals in the carbon atom B. the shape of the one s orbital in the carbon atom C. the shape of the sp3 hybrid orbitals of the electrons shared between the carbon and hydrogen atoms D. hydrogen bonding configurations between the carbon and …

2020年3月2日 · And it just so happens that the configuration of O3 that you show is more stable than "cyclic ozone". This might be because of the strain, which would appear in a three-membered ring (similarly to the strain in cyclopropane).
