The Two-foot High Kick is a supreme test of abdominal strength and balance. Jumping with both feet simultaneously, athletes kick a suspended ball, then land on both feet without falling backwards. The ball is raised in increments of four inches after each round.

The kickstand is maybe the most iconic piece of equipment used by NYO Games athletes. Every year at Senior NYO Games, eight kickstands with suspended sealskin balls occupy the competition floor for four out of the ten events: the Alaskan, One-Foot, and Two-Foot High Kicks, plus the One-Hand Reach.

Sheer power, unreal flexibility, and explosive jumping ability – all tied to the rich cultures of Alaska Native peoples – are on display as hundreds of youth gather in Anchorage for the annual NYO Games. The games return to Anchorage on April 24-26, 2025, at the Alaska Airlines Center.
