2009年2月2日 · Here's a quick run down on the three ZJ transfer cases: NP231: Part time transfer case used commonly in XJ's, YJ's, TJ's, ZJ's, etc. It offers 2wd, 4 part time, and 4 low. NP242: Full time transfer case used in XJ's and ZJ's. 2wd, 4 part time, 4 full time, and 4 low.

Knowing that the transfer case exchange was going to be a PITA, I built a custom cradle to hold it precisely oriented using my floor jack as a lift. 2010年2月12日 · The 231 transfer case is totally care-free so far as the type of ATF it gets, it is the automatic transmission that is very fussy that way. It will be just as happy with ATF+3 as it would be with ATF+4, and it would actually be happy with any good quality ATF.

2019年12月18日 · According to this, a transfer case with a long input shaft definitely won't be compatible with an AX15. If you can definitively state that a transfer case with a short input shaft will work with an NV3550, that would be helpful information to post. I'm not sure if OP is comfortable swapping out the input shaft.

2015年6月8日 · So all I have left to change on the 1998 jeep TJ that sat for ten years is the manual tranny fluid and the transfer case fluid. I ordered red line MT 90 for the tranny but don't know what i need for the transfer case. Does it take the same fluid? Sorry if this is a dumb question. New jeep owner.

2018年4月17日 · This had been causing transmission fluid to seep into the transfer case/transmission interface and leak out the weep hole. Quite a bit of fluid, not just a little weep. Novak says a short input is necessary for my AX15/NP231 combo but it clearly just doesn't work on mine and simply can't seal.
