NGC 80 is a lenticular galaxy located in the constellation Andromeda. It is currently interacting with two other barred spiral galaxies NGC 47 and NGC 68, and was discovered on August 17, 1828 by John Herschel. [5] NGC 80 is classfied as a giant lenticular galaxy.

NGC 80 is a Elliptical/Spiral Galaxy in the Andromeda constellation. NGC 80 is situated close to the celestial equator and, as such, it is at least partly visible from both hemispheres in certain times of the year.

The NGC 80 galaxy group is located in the constellation Andromeda on the eastern side of the rectangle of Pegasus. On 27 September it is in opposition to the Sun and crosses the meridian at local midnight.

The NGC 80 group is interesting as it contains a number of S0 or lenticular galaxies and these, much as expected, contain old stars. Of the 13 main galaxies in the group 9 appear to be Lenticular which is an unusually high fraction.

2019年3月1日 · NGC 80 (Arp 65) Galaxy Group - posted in Experienced Deep Sky Imaging: This neat little group in Andromeda is 260 million light years away, which at this location in the sky probably means its part of the Perseus-Pisces supercluster, though I cant find any authority that actually confirms that.

2023年10月20日 · NGC 80 is easily the brightest and largest of the group and has a discernible core and nucleus. With time and AV a more larger halo can be made out, almost surprising in its extent for how distant it is.
