2024年12月11日 · NGC 103 in Cassiopeia is a small (about 4' long) and faint open cluster. Its elongated shape makes it worth a visit. I found it odd that the object is not part of the Herschel 2500 list. Could William Herschel have overlooked this cluster? The chances seemed slim to me.

M103 lies at an estimated distance of 8500 light years. The Equinox 2000 coordinates are RA= 1h 33.2m, Dec= +60° 42´ which makes M103 best seen during the autumn.
