Mount Hamilton (California) - Wikipedia
Mount Hamilton is a mountain in the Diablo Range in Santa Clara County, California. The mountain's peak, at 4,265 feet (1,300 m), overlooks the heavily urbanized Santa Clara Valley and is the site of Lick Observatory, the world's first permanently occupied mountain-top [4] observatory. [5] .
Visitor Center - Lick Observatory
Lick Observatory is located on the summit of Mt. Hamilton in the Diablo Range east of San Jose. To get there from Interstates 101, 280, or 680, take the Alum Rock Avenue exit and head east. Turn right on Mount Hamilton Road (CA route 130) and drive 18.5 miles to the Observatory.

The observatory is open to the public year-round Saturday and Sunday, from 12 to 5 p.m. Admission is free, and tours of inside the dome of the 36-inch Great Refractor are given every hour on the half hour by the Gift Shop.
