The Jonathan Browning Mountain Rifle referenced above is allegedly a "copy" of a rifle supposedly once owned by Jim Bridger.

2009年1月15日 · Actually the basic pattern of a long "tube" didn't change all that much (some had one piece bodies - others two piece)- mainly the decoration increased based on comparisons with the leather cases illustrated by Catlin & A. J. Miller in teh 183's vs tha later post 1860's cases - and yes some had fringe - just one example circa 1834.....

2010年4月4日 · In fact, they called it a "Jonathan Browning Mountain Rifle" on purpose to differentiate it from the Hawken. Jonathan Browning (1805-1879) was a blacksmith and gunsmith. Whether he actually made a rifle similar to the Mountain Rifle is unknown but he was a working gunsmith in the "Mountain Man" era.
